The origins of this artwork for The Marque’s podium space originate from the idea of a folding screen. Much like a room divider animates and limns a living environment, the artwork is intended to not just beautify the space but also delineate it. The work comprises a large tiled wall “drawing” and inlaid “floor- pieces” that incorporate elements drawn from Tee’s research across Cambridge into the relationship between the universality of nature, design, domestic space and decoration. Tee chose to incorporate plants that looked afloat from Darwin’s collected plant specimens from the Beagle voyage (1831-1836).
